The aim of the BA (Hons) Criminology with Psychology (Top Up) is to ensure that students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to pursue a career in the vast range of options within criminal justice agencies; community organisations and psychological fields. Understanding the human behaviour and factors contributing to general patterns of behaviour, psychological functioning and experience are key to understanding and predicting criminal behaviour and formulating criminal justice responses to crime. This degree will give students an understanding of crime, crime control and criminal justice alongside the biological, social, clinical and cognitive factors that influence behaviour. Careers that students pursue include working for the courts, probation, police, immigration service, working with young offenders or working in supporting roles in a wider range of fields such as homelessness, refugee work, victim support, or working with voluntary or community organisations.

The BA (Hons) in Music (Top-Up) - has two pathways, of which students need to choose, Performance or Production. The programme aims to develop graduates who embrace and acknowledge the requirements of their chosen specialism and develop high levels of skill and knowledge associated with their chosen field of study and its related disciplines and creativity.

The BA (Hons) in Photography (Top-Up) is aimed at students wanting to develop their studies in line with their own photography and career expectations. Through extensive creative research, students will establish their own design practice and in response produce two dimensional, three dimensional and digital photography outcomes alongside related reflective and critical writing. Students will evolve through practice, personal design direction, context, research methods and processes and will develop and produce individual photography outcomes with the opportunity for interdisciplinary practice.

The BA (Hons) in Fashion Design (Top-Up) programme is aimed at students wanting to develop their studies in line with their own design philosophy and career expectations. Through extensive creative research, students will establish their own design practice and in response produce two dimensional, three dimensional and digital fashion and textiles outcomes alongside related reflective and critical writing. Students will evolve through practice, personal design direction, context, research methods and processes and will develop and produce individual fashion outcomes with the opportunity for interdisciplinary practice. This course allows for students to develop a professional understanding of the workplace and to embark upon a personal journey of industry related project briefs and competitions.

Applicants to the BDes (Hons) Graphic Design (Top-Up) course will have the opportunity to investigate a broad range of design communication specialisms including (but not limited to), brand strategy, design and communications, digital communications, packaging design, advertising and marketing communications, spatial, environmental and installation design, typographic communications and editorial design; as well as individual interests that may extend into other specialisms such as animation, film and photography. This course offers students the opportunity to extend their understanding of graphic design through theoretical studies, from a historical context through to sociological, economic and psychological factors that can play a key role within the design process; and how a target audience perceives visual communications.

This exciting and innovative course is designed for students with a thirst to understand why crime is committed from a psychological perspective. The psychology modules will focus your attention on the biological, the psychological and the social explanations for crime and deviance while drawing upon traditional and new theories. Each module builds on the last to guide you to your chosen topic for the dissertation module in the BA (Hons) Criminology with Psychology. We have volunteering at the heart of the degree with student volunteering in various agencies and organisations including Circles - which provides support and accountability to high-risk sex offenders to help reduce re-offending and prevent any further victims. We aim to build your confidence using a variety of assessment methods using traditional essays and reports but also using technology to challenge your growth.

The Foundation Degree in Fashion and Textiles will develop a meaningful understanding of current commercial design practice for fashion and printed textiles. Offering critical and contextual design theory, which will underpin the practical implementation of design skills in studio-based projects, there will be an opportunity for students to work on client-led briefs simulating the demanding nature of the industry and to become confident in professional garment manufacture and the technology associated with this process.

An exciting degree designed to develop and sculpt the next generation of adaptable dance artists, choreographers and teachers in Hull. The programme has a strong emphasis on developing technique to create successful and technical dance practitioners in a vast range of dance styles.

The Foundation Degree in Electronic Music Production aims to deliver a broad and challenging curriculum, preparing students with the necessary creative, technical, theoretical and transferable skillsets to meet the requirements of the contemporary commercial music industry. Delivery of this programme emulates the practical nature of the sector with theory, research and development informing practice at every level. Academic modules explore the cultural science of music production and the wider fields of sound creation and its positioning in and effect on society.

The Foundation Degree in Photography has been designed around an ethos based upon creative problem solving and ensuring a learning environment in which innovation and originality are cultivated. This course aims to produce versatile photographers who are able to work effectively in a wide range of location and studio-based genres and think creatively while drawing on knowledge of critical understanding of the social, economic and cultural factors influencing their professional setting. Masterclasses in a range of subjects including drone photography, sports photography and use of a range of historical processes are available throughout the year. A varied visiting lecture programme of local, national and international photographers will be available to students in order to further understand the current demands of working in what is a creative and challenging area.

The FD in Advanced Beauty Therapy and Aesthetics is designed for Beauty Therapists who wish to advance and broaden their skills into aesthetic practices.

The FD Graphic Design and Illustration course aim is to produce graduates who fully understand the purposes, processes and end products of graphic design and Illustration practice.

The MA in Creative Practice offers students the opportunities to work towards both professional and academic outputs, allowing them to graduate and progress onto higher level learning and careers in relevant industry sectors. Common across both pathways are overarching learning principles which define the ways in which graduates operate in their future careers.

The FD in Live Events gives you the skills to ensure performances and productions are fully immersive experiences for any audience by being the creative bodies behind the scenes.

Teaching is an attractive option for anyone with a passion for learning who may want to pass this on to others. This long standing course is validated by the highly respected University of Huddersfield. This course is designed for graduates wishing to gain a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education in the post compulsory sector (note this qualification does not qualify you to teach in the primary or secondary sector). The course teaches you how to develop a curriculum, helping you to improve your teaching skills and identify key areas where you can develop your professional abilities.  Applicants must complete 100 hours classroom teaching in the year. Once you have completed the course, you can expect to be working in a lifelong learning environment with all the relevant skills that you need to support the students in your care.

FD Popular Music Performance offers a broad and challenging education in music performance, creativity and entrepreneurship.
