Carnegie Mellon University is located in Pittsburgh and is a private and global research university. Carnegie Technical School was founded by Andrew Carnegie in 1900 and then came to be known as the Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1912. In 1967, it was united with Mellon Institute of Industrial Research to establish Carnegie Mellon University. It has now become an international university granting degrees at various locations including the campus at Silicon Valley and international campuses at Australia, Qatar and Africa.
