Bishop Grosseteste University is a public university located in Lincoln, England that was established in 1862 but gained university status in 2012. BGU has an excellent teaching record and has been empowering students for the last 150 years. It is also listed amongst the universities that have the highest employability. Bishop Grosseteste University is known to be one of the friendliest and safest universities in the UK. 

Campus, Courses and Infrastructure

The university is located on a single-site campus in uphill Lincoln, close to the historic Bailgate district, Cathedral, and the Castle.  BGU offers undergraduate, postgraduate, Foundation degrees & doctoral study programs in a variety of fields like Business, English Literature, Education Studies, Geography, History, Psychology, Design and Technology, Primary and Community Care, and many others. The university offers all the amenities in their single campus like fitness facilities, restaurants, cafes, gyms, business hubs & much more to fulfil all their student’s needs. The oldest structures are around the Newport waterfront, with the earliest dating from 1841 and designed in the Tudor revival (or "Tudorbethan") style. It has gabled dormers and is made of brick with stone trimmings. In 1861, an extension range was built at right angles to the road in a similar but planer style. The simple and planer chapel, which lies between these buildings and the road, was designed by Sir Arthur Blomfield in 1862. Many new developments and facilities have been added to the site in recent years.

Accomplishments and Alumni

Over the years, the university has made a special place for itself. It now attracts a large number of international admissions every year. The teaching of Bishop Grosseteste University has achieved the highest rating in the first ever Government-led Teaching Excellence Framework assessment which is only awarded to the top 26% universities in the UK. Additionally, it also has an extensive list of alumni. Some of the notable names include - David Pugh, West End theatre producer and Jade Etherington, Paralympic ski silver medalist.

Student Diversity and Visiting Companies

According to the figures released by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) in 2018, 97% of the graduates of the Bishop Grosseteste University receive employability. Currently the university caters  to the academic demands of a large number of students. A significant proportion of these students are from across the globe. The university also ensures development of transferable and industry based skills to ensure placement opportunities to its outgoing students.
