Can I Get a Full Scholarship at the University of Toronto?
The University of Toronto does not offer any direct scholarships to international students. The only available scholarships are admission-based. These scholarships are entrance-based scholarships given to eligible students. The scholarships are partially funded. Full scholarships are not available. However, you do not need to apply. Eligible students are automatically considered for the award. Meritorious students can even apply for external scholarships or scholarships provided by the Canadian government.

The eligibility requirements for the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship are as follows:
- You must be an international student seeking a study permit
- Must be in the final year of a senior secondary high school, or must have graduated not earlier than June 2024.
- You must be commencing your studies at UoT during the year of application (month, September)

International Scholar Awards
The University of Toronto scholarships include several International Scholar Awards. The awards are automatically given to exceptional students. You can renew these scholarships. The total value of the International Scholar Awards is more than CAD 100,000. These awards are provided division-wise.

International Merit Admission Award
The International Merit Award is also one of the University of Toronto scholarships that international students can apply for. However, this scholarship is only available to students in the Department of the Faculty of Arts and Science. The scholarship is available for first-year students and is renewable.
Eligibility
The eligibility requirements for the International Merit Admission Award are as follows:
- You must be an international fee-paying student
- You must have completed your secondary school program with high scores.
- You must meet the conditions of your offer letter ( Faculty of Arts & Science)
- Additionally, you must register full-time for 8 consecutive semesters (Fall/Winter term), and agree to complete 3.0 credits towards the end of the Fall/Winter session
Benefits
An amount of CAD 50,000 for the course duration/4 years. Out of this amount, you will receive CAD 20,000 in the first year itself.
Canadian Government Scholarship to Study at UoT
The Canadian Government offers several scholarships to study at the University of Toronto. Therefore, we have included it under the the list of University of Toronto scholarships.
Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship
The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship is available to both international and domestic students. This scholarship is non-renewable.
Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship is as follows:
- You must be an international student
- Must be enrolled in a research program in an eligible course. For example, health research, humanities, social sciences, engineering, or natural sciences

The scholarship amount is CAD 70,00 and is available for 2 years.
Vanier Scholarships
The Vanier Scholarship is meant for doctoral students. The scholarship takes into account the research potential, academic record, and leadership potential of the candidate. This is a nomination-based scholarship
Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for the Vanier scholarship are as follows:
- Must be an international student
- Must be taking up a health
You must be an international student, a Canadian citizen, or a permanent resident of Canada.Additionally, you must be taking up health research, social sciences and humanities, and natural sciences and/or engineering research in Canada.

- Select the course you want to study
- Ensure that you meet the requirements of the university
- Apply for the course within the admission deadlines
- At this stage, your admission application will be considered by the university
- When you receive the offer of admission, the scholarship details will be provided to you
- You need accept your offer letter, and confirm your scholarship acceptance
- The scholarship amount will be disbursed annually.
