War Memorial Park- Coventry

Located just off the main Kenilworth Road, this park is only a 10-minute bus ride from the university campus. Coventry’s most prominent park, the War Memorial Park, welcomes some 400,000 guests annually from all corners of the city and beyond. Others come to participate in one of the numerous special events that are held throughout the year, while many just stop by for a quick visit. 

The park, which is around 48.5 hectares in size, consists of two sections: the formal garden with the War Memorial and the recreational grounds, which include playing fields, a footgolf course, a Splash ‘n’ Play Park, and play areas. The park is also surrounded by a 1.6-mile circular pathway.

There is a circular walkway that circles the whole park, making it ideal for jogging. The popularity of the park is shared by dog lovers and owners. Of course, the war memorial that towers over the treetops is impossible to overlook. Built in 1927, this monument is around 90 feet high.

Chesterton Windmill

With acres of flat, open countryside surrounding Chesterton Windmill, which is perched on top of a hill, the scene is particularly striking. The Chesterton Windmill, a well-known element of the Warwickshire countryside, is visible from miles away. About five miles to the southeast of Warwick, it is perched on a hilltop with a view of the Roman Fosse Way. The mill was constructed between 1632 and 1633 and used up until around 1910, when its equipment stopped functioning. In cooperation with the Society for the Preservation of Ancient Buildings and the previous Ministry of Public Buildings and Works, it was repaired by Warwickshire County Council between 1965 and 1971.

Sunset at Newbold Comyn

The finest time to take in the peace and beauty of our natural world is during a sunset, which is always calming to the eyes. There is a huge hill in Newbold Comyn, which many pupils are well aware of. So get a blanket, head up there, and watch the sunset over Leamington. Many people would want to spend their time at Newbold because it is a much more natural and undiscovered location.

Day Trip to Stratford-Upon-Avon

Stratford-upon-Avon is a medieval town close to the university, much like Warwick. It’s a little farther out and takes about an hour and a half to get there, but on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, there are a variety of markets with a mix of food, clothes, and jewellery vendors.  This location is ideal for someone who enjoys history, too. Trip to Kenilworth

The Warwick campus is substantially closer to Kenilworth than Leamington (a 15-minute bus journey), where some students also choose to live following their first year of college. Kenilworth Castle, which also puts on an extravagant firework show on Bonfire Night, is the primary draw of the little town. If you need some fresh air, there are four nature reserves as well.
