Study in USA: AU Emerging Global Leadership Scholarship Open for International Applicants

American University is offering an Emerging Global Leadership Scholarship to one undergraduate international student. The scholarship would cover all the billable expenses of the student to study at the American University. That is, the complete tuition fees, room, and board expenses. Students who are on a non-immigrant visa such as an F-1 or J-1 student visa are preferred for the scholarship. Moreover, the EGL scholarship is renewable for a total of 4 years of undergraduate study. The beneficiary of this scholarship will eventually return home to improve the under-resourced and under-deserved communities in his/her home country. Interested students can apply for the Emerging Global Leadership Scholarship before  December 15, 2023.

Emerging Global Leadership Scholarship Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for the Emerging Global Leadership Scholarship is as follows:

• Must be an international student who has overcome various challenges and must belong to an underrepresented socio-economic community
• Must have secured a minimum GPA pf 3-8 out of 4.0 in the 9-12th grades. Those securing the top 10% scores of the graduating class are eligible as well.
• Additionally, the applicant must demonstrate community service, leadership skills, volunteerism, and the intention to advance the needs of the people in the home country.
• The applicant must also meet the English language proficiency requirements of the university. For example, 95+ in TOEFL iBT, or 7.0 in the IELTS exam
• Moreover, applicants who are still enrolled in high school must graduate by June 2024.
• However, students who have already enrolled in any post-secondary institution are not eligible for this scholarship. Similarly, those who are US citizens/Permanent Residents/dual citizens of the US and another country are not eligible.

Emerging Global Leadership Scholarship Application Process 

To apply for the Emerging Global Leadership Scholarship follow the steps below:

• Visit the official website of the university and complete the AU EGLS application.
• Submit a bank letter and the AU Certification of Finances (AU CFIS) form. Both must demonstrate that the applicant possesses a minimum of U.S. $$4,000
• Next, the applicant must submit the official English proficiency test score before the deadline. Do note that the test score must be directly sent from the testing agency to the American University
• The applicant must then complete and submit the Common Application along with all necessary documentation by either December 15, 2023, or January 15, 2024. 
• Applicants who have not received the Global Emerging School might still receive admission to the American University. Moreover, they might be eligible for partial scholarships from the university. 
• Lastly, to complete the application process the student must submit the proof of finances before the deadline. That is an amount of U.S.$78,296 for the first year of study.
