Study in UK: University of Edinburgh Offers India Merit Scholarship for PGT Masters Students

The University of Edinburgh offers a new international scholarship for Indian students. The scholarship is India Merit Scholarship and is available to PGT Masters students from India. The benefit is a tuition fee discount of £5,000 to the selected students. This scholarship is only given to academically gifted students for 2024-25. The scholarship is tenable for the 1st year only. However, you do not need to apply separately for the scholarship. Those who meet the eligibility criteria are automatically taken into account by the admissions team. The University of Edinburgh ranks 27 as per QS World Rankings 2024. Hence, it is a top university worldwide and an excellent choice for Indian students.

India Merit Scholarship Eligibility 

The University of Edinburgh   India Merit Scholarship eligibility criteria are as follows 

• You must be domiciled in India at the time of application and must have an international fee status
• You must have either partially or fully funded your education 
• Has firmly accepted the unconditional offer letter to join any of the University’s on-campus, full-time PGT Master’s programmes. 
• You must have made the required tuition fee within the given period 
• Moreover, you must have obtained an undergraduate degree from a recognised university in India. The degree must be awarded at a minimum level provided in the table below. Note: the table below excludes students with medicine degrees, and graduates with dentistry degrees who are also eligible for the scholarship.
• However, you are ineligible for this award if your employer fully sponsors you, if you are an online degree student, or if you will receive a full scholarship.

India Merit Scholarship Application Process 

The India Merit Scholarship application process is as follows:

• You must apply to a PGT Master’s programme at the University of Edinburgh
• Next, receive an unconditional offer letter from the university, and meet the eligibility criteria
• Ensure that you have achieved the listed grades (see the table above for reference)
• Pay the tuition fee deposit provided in the offer letter
• Thereafter, the University will automatically apply the scholarship to your tuition fees.
• Note: Although the CAS will show full tuition fees, you will receive the scholarship discount when you enrol at the university. This information is generally provided in the CAS letter.
• The University will notify the students selected for the scholarship.
