Study in Netherlands: Details About Maastricht University NL High Potential Scholarship

The Maastricht University (UM) NL High Potential Scholarships applications are available for international students for the academic year 2024-25. The scholarship consists of the NL Scholarships and the High Potential Scholarship which the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science funds. The scholarships are offered in collaboration with the Dutch University, and the University of Applied Sciences. Under this, a total of 24 fully funding scholarships are available. The scholarship amount is  € 30,000 consisting of the tuition fee waiver and a monthly stipend every academic year. The Maastricht University NL Scholarships are available to highly talented students from outside the EU. Students enrolling in a Master’s program at the university are eligible to apply for the award. 

Maastricht University NL High Potential Scholarship Eligibility 

The eligibility requirements for the NL  High Potential Scholarship are as follows: Note: NL scholarships are highly competitive. Only 2% of the applicants receive the scholarship.

• The applicant must hold a nationality outside the European Union or the European Economic Area, Surinam, or Switzerland.
• Moreover, the applicant must meet the visa entry requirements and residence permit requirements to study in the Netherlands
• The applicant must have applied to study a full-time master’s program at the university for the academic year 2024-25. Additionally, the applicant must meet the specific course requirements.
• The student must not be older than  35 years of age on 1 September 2024.
• Demonstrate an excellent academic record. The UM prefers candidates who are among the top 5% of the applicants. 
• Applicants holding double nationality from  Switzerland or an EU/EEA country are not eligible. 
• Similarly, those who have previously participated in a degree program in the Netherlands are not eligible for the scholarship. 

Maastricht University NL High Potential Scholarship Benefits 

The benefits of the Maastricht University NL High Potential Scholarship are as follows. Note; the NL scholarship is available for 13 months for those undertaking 1 one-year MA program. However, the scholarship is available for 24 months for those undertaking 2 year MA program. 

Interested students need to first register for one of the participating programs at UM. Next, fill in the application form by logging in to the UM account. The application status announcement will take place in April 2024.
