The United States has announced several measures to expedite visa processing for college graduates with job offers. This is a positive signal for prospective international students. On 15th July, the US Department of State provided updated guidance to consulate officers on when to suggest granting waivers to specific applicants.
The non-immigrant work visa known as the H1B visa allows individuals to work in the US for three years through employer sponsorship with extensions available for up to three years.

Approximately, 781000 initial H1B visa applications were filed for the fiscal year but only 24 percent were chosen to proceed with the petition process. “This new policy will be an important step for the US to attract skilled graduates by streamlining visa processes and providing clear guidelines for waivers to retain top talent and bolster our workforce,” Goodman added.

“While the most recent changes will fast track graduates with job offers to obtain the visa, according to Goodman, a major problem with the visa is that it’s not being issued in large enough numbers.”
Visiting the United States has become very easy now, but understanding the array of available visas and determining the eligibility criteria is a tough task. While the H1 B student and tourist visas are widely known, lesser known visas might better suit specific needs.
