Speech on Honesty is the Best Policy in English

A very warm good morning to everyone present here. Today, I would like to present my views on ‘Honesty is the best policy’. I hope that I will be able to convey my perspective to you. 

In life, honesty plays a very crucial role, as it is considered one of the best tools that can help you achieve anything. However, the current generation’s thought is that it is a hurdle that prevents quick success. In today’s world, honesty is rare. 

To achieve quick success in life, a lot of people resort to being dishonest. But what they forget is that success by dishonesty is short-lived, they don’t prolong. The harvest of dishonesty is a bitter one. In the long run, honesty is indeed the best policy. The great William Shakespeare once said that there is no legacy as rich as honesty. An honest person will always find himself confident. To hide one lie, hundreds more will follow. 

As a child, our parents are our first teachers and as their duty, they teach us the value of honesty, no matter how bad things are. We become what we say and as we learn to be honest, we become successful in life. If you and I are not honest, then how can we become successful?

Lies should never be promoted or protected. Honest people should help others tell the truth. Positivity and honesty have the power to change society. In conclusion, I would like to say that no matter how difficult the situation gets, always opt for honesty because truth always wins and honesty goes a long way.

Good morning, respected teachers and fellow students. My name is Ananya Sharma and today  I would like to present my views on “Honesty is the best policy’. I hope that I will be able to convey my thoughts and perspectives to you.

One of the greatest human virtues is honesty. It has always been highly regarded. You don’t have to remember what you said when you tell the truth and are honest. But once you lie, a hundred more lies will follow to back it up. Before you even know it, you will be entangled in your own web of lies. It will not only affect you, but it will also affect the ones that you love and the ones who love you. Honesty and truth will always come through. 

Honesty means much more than just just telling the truth. It means meaning well for others, not harming them, or falling into bad habits. One’s ethics can take you a long way in life without getting you in trouble. Honest people are trusted by everyone and they lead a happy and prosperous life. Even in the career aspect of life, honest people move forward at a great pace and in every other aspect of life too. If you want to be successful at every stage of your life, you must be honest. 

Honesty plays a crucial role in making our bonds strong. Trust and honesty must come from both partners and this will lead to loyalty. The same thing goes for friends, honesty will help you keep the friends who are real to you, and who will always remain by your side no matter what. 

There does come a time when we are tempted to lie and your honesty and loyalty may also be put to trial. But even in those scenarios, when honesty and truth prevail, it always gets rewarded. So if you are wrong, admit it., If you have offended someone, then apologize to them. Lies go nowhere, while truth gets punished once. Lies don’t deserve forgiveness, but truths deserve a second chance. There are a lot of tips that we can follow to practice honesty. 

Being truthful in interactions even in difficult situations, owning up to mistakes and taking responsibility for actions, being transparent in communication, and treating others with respect are some of the ways to practice honesty. Apart from these, cultivate self-awareness and take time to reflect on your behaviour. Why not tell the truth and avoid spreading rumours and unnecessary gossip?

In conclusion, I would like to say that practising honesty is difficult, it takes commitment and effort but it goes a long way. Not only it will take you further in life but that too down a good path. It is right what they say, honesty is indeed the best policy.
