Long Speech on National Technology Day
Like any other day of national importance, National Technological Day is of great importance to India and its people. It is a day to remember the pride India achieved on May 11, 1998, and how determined our scientists, engineers, defence personnel and officials were to make India a nuclear power. Good morning, everyone. Today, I stand before all of you to present my speech on National Technology Day. ‘India, on May 11, 1988, secretly conducted three underground nuclear tests in Pokhran, Rajasthan. The mission was codenamed ‘Operation Shakti’. The successful testing of these nukes gave India centre stage in the international arena, where the West was imposing sanctions, criticising India for not abiding by the Non-Proliferation Treat, which India never signed.’ ‘But India had other plans. When the tests were successful, a message was sent from Pokran to New Delhi. It said, ‘The White House Has Collapsed’, not the one in DC, but the detonation shaft, which was codenamed.’ ‘This was just the beginning of India’s technological and scientific developments, for there were big plans as well. Today, India is equipped with the best technological institutions in the world; it is the largest exporter of petroleum products and the largest producer of milk, pulses and jute. ‘Days like National Technology Day bring opportunities to learn from our ancestors, what they accomplished for the country, the sacrifices they made, and how thankful and proud we are for their dedicated work.’ ‘Starting National Science Day 2024, the Minister of Science and Technology will nominate ‘Rashtriya Vigyan Purushkar’ to scientists and experts in 13 fields, including Physics, Chemistry, Atomic Energy, Space Science and Technology, Engineering Sciences, etc. The award ceremony will be conducted on National Space Day on 23, 2024.’ ‘It makes me feel proud to be a citizen of this great country, Bharat. So on this National Technology Day, let’s all learn from our ancestors and follow their path of greatness so that the future is even brighter than today. Jai Hind! |
