UGC NET Selection Process 2024

All those candidates who are appearing for the UGC NET 2024 exam should know the UGC NET Selection Process. The UGC NET selection process consists of various steps. In this, it is seen the number of candidates who are qualified (total number of candidates qualified for Assistant Professors). This is usually equal to 6 per cent of the candidates who appeared in both the papers of NET and 1 per cent (for JRF). This is necessary for the final selection which needs to be made.

UGC NET Selection Process Guidelines

It is crucial to understand the NTA’s adherence to the UGC NET selection criteria. Here is a list of all the rules that must be followed in order to prepare for the UGC NET outcome.

  • Number of Candidates: The number of candidates who are required to be qualified (in all slots or Eligibility for Assistant Professors) should be equal to 6 per cent of the candidates who appeared for both the papers of UGC NET and only 1 per cent qualify for the JRF exam.
  • Computer-Based Test: The UGC NET 2024 exam is usually conducted online as a Computer Based Test (CBT). in order to qualify for the positions of “JRF and Eligibility for Assistant Professor” and “Assistant Professor.” In order to be eligible, an applicant must have taken both exams.
  • Required Score: The candidate must have obtained at least a 40 per cent overall score in both papers combined for the General (unreserved) category and at least a 35 per cent overall score in both papers combined for all candidates.

Reservation Policy in NET Selection Process

The candidates who fulfil the UGC NET reservation criteria can get an advantage in the selection process of the National Eligibility Test Conducted by UGC. Below we have mentioned the percentage of seats reserved for different categories. It will help you to understand the reservation policy of UGC NET.

  • For OBC Category Students- 27%
  • For ST Category Students- 7.5%
  • For SC Category Students- 15%
  • For PwD Category Students- 4%
  • For EWS Category Students- 10%
