Difficulty Level of the Examination
The overall difficulty level for the IBSAT exam of 2022 was between easy to moderate. Each person has a different perception of the papers’ overall level of difficulty. The IBSAT exam is, nevertheless, a rather easy to moderately difficult paper.
Difficulty Level of the Examination Section-Wise
All the sections of the exam ranged from simple to moderately complex. Nothing extra was asked in the paper besides the core subjects. The exam pattern was the same as the previous five years. Verbal ability, reading comprehension, quantitative ability, and data interpretation were the four topics that were covered in the question paper.
Exam Sections | Number of Questions | Difficulty Levels | Total Marks |
Verbal Ability | 50 | Moderate | 50 |
Data Interpretation | 30 | Moderate | 30 |
Quantitative Aptitude | 30 | Moderate to Difficult | 30 |
Reading Comprehension | 30 | Easy to Moderate | 30 |
140 Questions | 140 Marks |
The exam contained only Multiple Choice questions (MCQs). Each section distributed the number of questions almost evenly, as shown in the table above. The majority of the questions are in the Verbal Ability section, with the remaining sections sharing the remaining questions averaging 30 questions each. There were a variety of easy-to-moderate questions in the quantitative ability section. The reading comprehension and data interpretation sections are the same.
There is no negative marking and the students will receive one mark each for every correct answer. The majority of the sections had questions that were of a moderately difficult level, however, the verbal ability had the trickiest questions in the exam. That exam pattern did not undergo many changes, so those students who prepared from the previous year’s question papers will find the exam a little easy.

Verbal Ability
The most difficult questions, which most candidates felt they needed more time to answer, were in the verbal ability section. The questions in this section were moderately challenging. But because the entire paper is mostly of moderate difficulty, there weren’t many complex questions. There were a total of 50 questions. The majority of them were specifically asked from the sections on phrases, idioms, synonyms, antonyms and more. The grammar section which covered topics like fill-in-the-blanks, phrases, sentences and grammar corrections was reportedly the simplest.
Reading Comprehension
The level of difficulty for this section ranged from easy to moderate. This section received mixed reviews from the students. The candidates had to spend more analytical and empirical evidence in their responses. They had to spend a lot of time finishing this section as a result. The other questions were factual and straightforward, and the majority of them were dispersed throughout various passages.
Quantitative Aptitude
Mathematical issues and geometrical situations made up a sizable portion of the questions. Although it might appear complicated, the questions themselves were not particularly difficult. This section was not too challenging.
Data Interpretation
The candidates’ logical thinking and data sufficiency were the main topics of this section. Unexpectedly, the section was still only moderately challenging. There were only a handful of difficult questions for the candidates to answer, similar to the verbal ability section.
Since many of the questions are conceptual in nature, it can be difficult to understand how the solutions apply to these issues. The majority of the exam’s questions were easy to moderate, so it’s generally thought to be moderately challenging. The exam’s passing score is somewhere around the 85th percentile. This specific basis will be used for placements across all the ICFAI branches. There were no questions outside the scope of the syllabus and none of them were descriptive.
