Hi My name is Basit Javeed. I’m currently in 12th grade, and my exams are in September (state board). I want to pursue a diploma in nursing after 12th grade in Canada. I want to do a BSc in Nursing, but I think it might be too expensive. Could you tell me the admission requirements for a diploma in nursing, such as the required 12th-grade percentage, IELTS score, and whether there is any entrance exam to get admitted to the diploma in nursing after 12th grade? How many semesters are there? Duration? Fee per semester? Also, what are the job opportunities with a diploma in nursing, and what is the visa acceptance ratio? Which intake is best for me, and when should I start my application process? One more question: I studied only Physics, Biology, English, Chemistry, and Physical Education, but not Math. Is it possible to get admission without Math, and in which college? I hope you will answer my query. Thanks. #Canada #NursingDiploma #StudyAbroad #12thGrade #HigherEducation #Admissio #StudyAbroad #HigherEducation #Canada #NursingDiploma #VisaAcceptance #Admissio #12thGrade #IndianStudents #AdmissionRequirements

Hi Basit,

It’s great that you’re thinking about a Diploma in Nursing in Canada. Here’s what you need to know:

Admission Requirements:

  • 12th-Grade Percentage: Most Canadian colleges look for 50-60% in your 12th-grade subjects. Since you’re in the Science stream, you’re on the right path.
  • IELTS Score: Most colleges require an overall IELTS score of 6.0, with no band below 5.5. It’s good to aim for this or higher.
  • Entrance Exam: Usually, there’s no entrance exam for a nursing diploma. Your admission will mostly depend on your 12th-grade marks and IELTS score.

Program Details:

  • Duration: A Diploma in Nursing typically takes 2 years.
  • Semesters: There are usually 4 semesters in the 2-year program.
  • Fee Per Semester: The fees range from CAD 7,000 to CAD 15,000 per year, depending on the college.

Job Opportunities:

  • With a nursing diploma, you can work as a registered practical nurse (RPN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN) in Canada. The demand for nurses is strong, so job opportunities are good.

Visa Acceptance Ratio:

  • The visa acceptance rate for nursing students in Canada is generally high, as long as you meet all the requirements and have a solid application.

Intake and Application Process:

  • The best time to start would be September (Fall) or January (Winter). Start your application 6-8 months before the intake to meet deadlines.

Math Requirement:

  • Some colleges might ask for Math, but many nursing programs focus more on Biology, Chemistry, and English. You might find programs that don’t require Math, but it’s best to check with individual colleges.

I hope this helps!
