History, Affiliations and Rankings
Established in 1898, as a private seminary. It was a girl’s college, situated at the house of Anna D Elder, the founder. It was named Snead State Community College, when Mr Snead, a businessman donated land and money for the institute. In 1935, the institute also added a junior college. In 1941, the institute got accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). In 1967, the institute went under Alabama Community College System.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
The main campus of Snead State Community College is located in Boaz, Alabama. It spreads on more than 43 acres and has high-end athletic and instructional services, a cafeteria, and a dormitory. The campus has a total of 4 buildings. There are the Administration Building which had been built around 1920, the Boatman President's House which was built in 1936, the Norton Library/Museum which was built in 1940, and the Pfeiffer hall which came into existence in 1942. Snead State Community College provides degree, associate, and certificate courses. Associate in Science includes courses in Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Business Economics, Agronomy, and others.
Accomplishments and Alumni
Snead State Community College has one of the largest distance training courses in the State, the institute goes out to students beyond its service area. The comfort of flexible scheduling and online classes permits students to pursue their education while balancing their busy lives. The Snead State Alumni Association is active since 1920 and includes graduates of Snead State as well as friends and supporters of the institute.

The Snead State Community College has about 2,400 students on-campus. They have about 1,000 undergraduates and about 1,400 postgraduate students on campus. The female to male ratio is 56:44 at the Snead State Community College.
