European University (formerly EU Business School) was founded in 1973 as a private institution of higher education. The EU Business School was acquired in 1999 by Dr. Kirk Craen, now the school's honorary president. A range of prestigious international accrediting bodies recognized the school's upgrades under his leadership. The Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) and Accreditation Council for Business Schools & Programs (ACBSP) are both recognized by CHEA, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. The university became a member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business in 2006 and was accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (IACBE) in 2010. EU Business School has been recognized on a global level by leading international rankings. In addition to its campuses in Montreux (1987), Geneva (1987), Barcelona (1989), Munich (1991), and online (2012), EU Business School operates online. Choosing these cities was based on their cosmopolitan environments and thriving business sectors. Two centrally located campuses in Barcelona provide students with a perfect learning environment for enjoying life in the Mediterranean. With state-of-the-art facilities and innovative buildings, both EU Barcelona Campus locations are easily accessible.
