It is an aptitude test for management studies to enrol in postgraduate courses. It is for both national and international students. TAGE MAGE Test: An Overview

This exam is designed for the 3 or 4-year bachelor’s students who want to continue their studies. The exam is taken by students who want to enrol in a-

  1. Master’s program (management, business administration, and related fields)
  2. Specialised master’s program in management (management, such as finance, marketing, or human resources)
  3. MBA 
  4. Continuing education programs (to improve management skills)/ PhD

The exam is conducted by FNEGE (or the National Federation for Management Education) in France. It is widely recognised in France, and most of the universities accept the test scores. 

Some universities have made this exam mandatory for both international and national students. At the same time, other universities give you the option to take this exam or the GRE/GMAT.

You do not require any specific management skills to clear this exam. The exam assesses your memorisation, comprehension, analysis, reasoning and problem-solving skills. It is conducted twice a year. Once between January and June, and second between July and December. The exam results are valid for 2 years.

TAGE MAGE Exam Format

Approximately 16,000 students worldwide take this exam. This is an aptitude test, and not a test of knowledge, and gives the same chances of success to all students irrespective of their academic or financial background. The exam format is as follows. You are required to complete 90 MCQ questions within 2 hours. For each question, 5 answers are proposed, and only 1 answer is correct.

Scoring Pattern and Admission Possibility

The TAGE MAGE test consists of 6 subtests. Each sub-test is scored between 0-60 individually.  This makes the raw scores between 0-360. The overall score that schools use is scaled. These scores range from -150 to +600. The scores obtained by students, their interpretation level and admission possibilities are provided below.

TAGE MAGE Test Fees

The aptitude test fee varies depending on where you are taking the exam. Moreover, the exam fees for national and international applicants differ. The general fee charged is provided below. The fees can slightly vary depending on whether you are registering through a French institution or directly via the FNEGE.

Registration Process

The TAGE MAGE test registration process is pretty straightforward. Before registration, ensure that you have a valid email address and that the email is valid throughout the duration of your exam. The registration process is as follows:

  1. Visit the official website of TAGE MAGE
  2. On the top bar menu, there is an option for ‘register’
  3. Choose that option and go to create an account
  4. Thereafter, you can start registering when the registration dates are open
  5. You can create your account with your email address, log in and fill the form
  6. Choose the exam centre, and pay the non-refundable fees 
  7. Thereafter, submit your registration form. You will receive a confirmation email.

Download your admit card when it becomes available, and ensure that you arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the test. You must have your identification proof. Such as a passport and/or national identity card, or a driving licence. 

You are not allowed to bring dictionaries or any electronic equipment, such as a mobile phone or a calculator, to the exam hall. Know that this test runs without breaks. Hence, make your arrangements accordingly.

Almost all universities in France recognise the TAGE MAGE scores. Internationally, certain schools also recognise this test. The test is taken primarily for admission into management and business schools. TAGE MAGE Results Availability

The test results are generally available online. You can download them by logging into your account on the official website. The results are available in about 3 to 4 weeks after the test date. The results are available in PDF format, which you can submit to business or management schools.  This means roughly a month late, after the test, you can check for the results.

Exam Centres 

The TAGE MAGE exam centres are located around the world. You can take the test from your home country. The exam has to be taken at a recognised exam centre. You cannot take this test from home. Exam centres are available in countries like the USA, Malaysia, Brazil, Central Africa, the UK, and China, among others. Please note, these are just some of the countries; you can visit the official website and contact the concerned authorities to check if the test is available in your country.

Indian nationals must note that the test is not available in their country. As an Indian, you will have to take the test in France after completing your undergraduate studies in France/India. You can also choose to travel to any other country where there is a recognised test centre for this exam.

TAGE MAGE Test  Difficulty Level

The TAGE MAGE is considered a difficult and demanding test. You need to have strong computational skills, logical thinking, verbal reasoning and time management skills to clear this paper. Essentially, you are only given about 1 minute and 20 minutes to answer a question. Therefore, you need to be prepared to give quick answers to the questions.

  4. Identify your strengths and weaknesses, and work on your weaknesses. For example, work on specific areas where you might need to improve, like percentages, complex texts, number operations,   or logical reasoning.

  6. You can also enrol in online programs that prepare you for this test if you need personalised assistance.
  7. Most importantly, learn how to manage time.

TAGE MAGE is an entrance exam that you need to clear to take admission to management or business schools in France. This exam is for those who want to study an MA or MBA program.
