Study Abroad:  National Gay Pilots Association is offering scholarships worth $500K to Aspiring Aviators
The NGPA is granting scholarships to celebrate its 25 year anniversary in support of the LGBTQ community. Application deadline is 31st July.

The National Gay Pilots Association (NGPA) has announced scholarships to its membership this year. The NGPA grants a total of $500,000 (INR 4,12,26,050) in scholarship funds to celebrate its 25th-year anniversary in supporting the LGBTQ community. The scholarships are provided irrespective of a person’s identity, sexual orientation, or gender expression. Interested applicants have to provide proof of their contribution to the LGBTQ community.

 Miriam Williams, the chairperson of the GPA Scholarship Committee has encouraged applications from aspiring aviation professionals. According to her, the scholarship program is the most substantive way NGPA can give back to its membership. Additionally, the program will help her plant something good for the future.

NGPA Scholarship Application Dates

 The NGPA scholarships are open from June 1st, 2023 to July 2023.  The deadline for the applications is July 31,2023.

NGPA Scholarship Eligibility Requirements 

To be eligible for the NGPA scholarship applicants need to fulfill the following criteria:

  • Must be an aspiring aviation professional 
  • Additionally he/she must provide proof of contribution to the LGBTQ community
  • Are members of the  National Gay Pilots Association, or have purchased membership from the NGPA official website
  • However, the gender expression, gender identity, and the sexual identity are not taken into consideration while accessing the applications

About National Gay Pilots Association

The National Gay Pilots Association is an NGO founded in 1990. NGPA is based in MInneapolis and comprises of LGBTQ+ professionals. The aim of the organization is to encourage individuals to start their aviation careers and develop an environment of equality for LQBTQ+ community.

The NGPA 2023 scholarships have been possible due to contributions from industry partners and membership donations. Justin Ellixson-Andrews, NGPA executive director, has expressed gratitude to United Airlines Aviate Academy’s support. Additionally, he has also thanked the individual donors and corporate sponsors for their contributions.
