The mother, Jen Sinclair shared her story with Business Insider. She recalls her college search and how it was clouded by the pressure to please everyone around her. She chose a school close to home and regrets not taking more risks. Finally, the Mother opted for a small private university leaving behind her dreams. She enjoyed her time in college but regretted the limitations the school put on her.
The girl at that time felt like it was her duty to do the right thing, to make her family proud. She behaved the right way and fulfilled all the expectations that were thrust upon her. She was doing everything to be the perfect daughter, sister, friend, student and woman.
Now at 46, the mother is pursuing her dreams of writing. She wants her daughter to know that she doesn’t have to wait to chase after what she really wants. But there were some regrets that are still clinging to her, but she is happy for her beautiful and independent daughter. She says, “I want my daughter to know that she doesn’t have to wait 20 years to chase after what she really wants”.
Words of the Mother
In a message to her daughter, the mother said, “Live less afraid of disappointing others and move forward on your terms. Stay safe but don’t lose your sense of adventure. Don’t ever stop chasing the life you want. It’s never too late or too early to find and follow your passion.”
The mother’s words of encouragement come at a time when many students are making life-changing decisions about their futures. It serves as a reminder that it’s important to prioritize one’s dreams and aspirations.
We wish the mother and her daughter all the best as they embark on this next chapter of their lives.
