The School of Management and Business (HSB) at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has faced controversy over its stance linking height to success, prompting a debate. HSB has set minimum height requirements of 1.58 meters for females and 1.65 meters for males for admission, with exceptions. But HSB has revised its criteria after public scrutiny and Ministry of Education intervention, removing the height requirements from all but the Management and Security program.

On 6th June, the Ministry of Education instructed the university to reassess these criteria, which in turn led to the HSB modifying its admission standards, as per the reports. The height requirement was removed for three of the four undergraduate programs, and now it applies only to the management and security courses.

The report adds that HSB defends the selection criteria by stating its goal to educate future leaders and exceptional managers for both the public and private sectors. The school emphasized that suitability goes beyond technical skills, including physical attributes. According to HSB, height plays a crucial role, particularly in leadership and self-confidence.
