What is the Proposed Mission Duration of the Gaganyaan?
The proposed mission duration of the Gaganyaan is 3 days. This mission was about to launch in 2021 but it got delayed due to the COVID-19 situation. But now is the favourable time to launch the spacecraft and make history in the field of space.
Gaganyaan Mission 2023 is designed especially to demonstrate the ability of the Indian Space Research Organization to launch a human spaceflight. It has the ability to launch 3 crew members to an orbit of 400 km for almost 3 days. This mission not only sends three astronauts to space but will also bring them back to Earth. Gaganyaan will land in the Indian Sea waters with the three crew members.

Gaganyaan Test Mission
ISRO has planned various test missions to demonstrate and check the technology. To do so, PM Narendra Modi has also conducted a meeting to assess the readiness of the Gaganyaan Mission.
Three vehicles will be tested before the actual Human Space Flight Mission.
- Integrated AirDrop Test (IADT)
- Pad Abort Test (PAT)
- Test Vehicle (TV)
The testing is done to ensure safety before preceding the manned Gaganyaan Mission. Crew Escape System Test Vehicle will launch on 21 October 2023.

As per the instructions of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, he asked ISRO the Indian Space Research Organization to aim high and launch a manned space mission. So, the Gaganyaan mission is to launch a human crew (3 humans) in a 400 km orbit and return them back into the Indian sea waters. The test flight is set to launch on 21 October 2023.
