The results of the National Science Olympiad 2024–25 (NSO) Level 2 exams were released on January 3, 2024. The National Science Olympiad (NSO) Level 2 exam was held on February 11, 2024. The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) NSO 2023 was organised in three phases (exams), where Exam Level 1 was held on October 17, 2023, Exam Level 2 on November 21, 2023, and Exam 3 on December 5, 2023. The National Science Olympiad offers awards and honours to students scoring maximum marks on the test. National Science Olympiad (2024-25)
The National Science Olympiad is a science competition that aims to identify and bring up children with innovative and analytical skills as futurist scientists, technologists, and information technology talents at the school level.
The participants in the NSO are ranked based on their obtained marks in the examination. After the first level of examination, the student can better know about their potential at the four different levels of the examination that are held at school, city, state, and, at last, International level.
Furthermore, students who qualify for the 2nd level exam include:
- The first 5 percent of students, according to class, who appear for the 1st level examination,
- Students who are the first 25 rank holders, class-wise,
- Class topper from the list of participating schools where at least 10 students from a class appear in the examination and have scored 50 percent qualifying marks.
It should be noted that students from classes 1 and 2 are not required to appear for the 2nd level examination. They are ranked according to their performance in the first level of examination.

How to Apply for the National Science Olympiad 2024-25?
The National Science Olympiad registration process dates are yet to be announced. Students who are studying in Classes Ist to XIIth and want to apply for the National Science Olympiad via their respective schools or institutions are to be advised to keep an eye check on the upcoming notifications, which will be released soon.
For the NSO Level 2 examination, students are advised to follow the below-given instructions. Furthermore, students are advised to follow the official website of the National Science Olympiad.
- You will receive a prospectus consisting of the NSO registration form.
- Students who are studying in a school that is not registered with the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF), can ask for the prospectus by contacting the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) via phone at 0124-4951200 or mail them at [email protected].
- Fill out the registration form by entering all the required information and submitting it to your school.
- Pay the registration fee, which is INR 125 for all candidates.
- Your school will return the filled registration form to the SOF.

National Science Olympiad (NSO)Eligibility Criteria
The National Science Olympiad is conducted for school students to asses their academic and scientific knowledge. The NSO 2023-24 will be conducted in three phases, and on different dates. The National Science eligibility criteria will be different for level 1 and level 2 exams.
Level 1 Exam
The Level 1 exam doesn’t have any specific eligibility criteria. This exam is open to all students who are currently enrolled in Classes Ist to XIIth. This level exam is open to all school students and there are no criteria for minimum marks.
Level 2 Exam
The Level 2 exam will be conducted only for those candidates who will score well in the Level 1 exam. Students appearing for the Level 2 exam must fulfil the following conditions:
- Of all the students who appeared for Level 1, only the top 5% will be selected.
- There will be 25 zone-wise rank holders from each class.
- Every class topper from participating schools with at least 10 students from a class will be allowed to appear for the exam and their scores must be at least 50%.

National Science Olympiad Awards
Students who secure positions in the National Science Olympiad are awarded medals, certificates and cash prizes. The NSO awards are distributed at both zonal and international levels. The NSO awards for Level 2 and Class 1 and 2 are described in the table below:
