Wallace State Community College is one of the largest educational institutions in Alabama. Since its inception in 1966, the college is dedicated to serving hundreds and thousands of students The campus is spread on a sprawling 300 acres of land in the city of Hanceville, and it houses 42 well-equipped buildings. The college offers close to around 60 majors. Some of the most popular majors are in the field of Liberal Arts and Humanities, and Nursing and Industrial Electronics Technician. The Wallace State Community College boasts of its award-winning faculty who provide high-quality education in the fields of their expertise. The college provides students with a platform to develop their professional and personal skills through more than 30 student associations, clubs, intramural sports, and other recreational activities. WSSC also has a drama club, and a student newspaper called The Mane Issue. A lot of scholarships and awards are granted every year by the college to the meritorious and in-need students. Lester Carpenter, Richard Scrushy, Craig Kimbrel, and Derek Holland are some of the most prominent alumni of the university.
