The Vanderbilt University is named after a rail and shipping magnate who donated the initial funding so that the college could set up. It was established in 1873 in the heart of Nashville. The university currently imparts knowledge to thousands of students on the Undergraduate, Graduate, and Ph.D. level. It has a inhouse Medical Center and an external campus known as the Peabody Campus situated across the Medical Center. On the international level, it stands at 50th according to ARWU, 195th position according to QS, 121st position according to Times, and 74th position according to US News and World Report. These rankings were issued in 2018. The most impressive thing about this university is the list of notable alumni. They include 17 US Ambassadors, 7 Nobel Prize laureates, 45 former and current US Congress Members, 13 governors, two US Supreme Court Justices, 10 billionaires, and 2 Vice Presidents of the United States. The list goes on to include Pulitzer Prize winners, Rhodes Scholars, Grammy Award Winners, Academy Award Winners, MacArthur Grant Fellows, Fortune 500 CEOs, professional athletes, and Olympians.
