Baptist Church of Hamilton (New York) is from where The University of Rochester was originated in 1796. The church founded the Baptist Education Society of the State of New York which was later named as Hamilton Literary and Theological Institution in the year 1817 and from there two Universities took birth i.e. Colgate University & University of Rochester. The main job of these two institutions was to train priests and clerics in Baptist's Tradition but later it created a separate collegiate division which was granted by the State of New York on January 31, 1850. This University has been through a lot of downhills but the strength of its founders never break down rather these hard times were memorized as experiences from which they learned to become tactic and courageous. Now the University of Rochester is one of the country's highest-ranking research Universities. Its campus is house to more than 2,000 faculty members, around 10,000 students and 200 academic majors.
