Located in the Greater Lisbon Metropolitan Area, the Polytechnic Institute of Setubal was founded in 1979 and became an official academic institution in 1981. It is a public institution of higher education and has two campuses in Setubal and Barreiro. The institute has 650 faculty members and a student population of 6,500. Currently, it comprises of five schools: School of Business Administration Setubal School of Technology School of Education School of Health Barreiro School of Technology The institute has also created a Students’ Welfare Unit along with different functional units for international students. Further, the campus is equipped with hi-tech laboratories, audio-visual equipments as well as documentation centres. Further, sports facilities and medical and psychological services are also provided to the students. Polytechnic Institute of Setubal offers a wide range of short-term technical degrees and post-graduate diplomas as well as Bologna degrees. The faculty consist of 650 staff members and a total of 85 higher education degrees are offered by the institute.
