Established in 1958, Fuzhou University is a public university formed under the PRC national policy of China Government. It was founded as part of the Project 211 to boost the growth of the tertiary education system in the country. It is governed by the Chinese Ministry of Education and is Double First-Class Discipline University. It is spread across two campuses which are located on the northern and southern bank of the Min River in Fuzhou city. The university offers a varied range of programs in the field of Engineering and Science and has specialised courses in Management, Economics, Law and Arts. Fuzhou University is home to over 29,000 students and has the academic staff comprises of more than 3,000 members. Along with the two main campuses, one min-campus and an academy, the university is spread across more than 300 hectares. It offers 9 doctoral degrees and 4 post-doctoral research stations that are working extensively in the field of academic research.
