Columbia University, founded in 1754, is New York's oldest higher education institution and the country's fifth oldest university. Columbia University is a private research university that is also a member of the Ivy League. It has a long history spanning over 250 years, during which time it has experienced tremendous growth in many areas and has evolved as one of the top destinations for higher education in the United States. Columbia University is a member of the Association of American Universities, the Universities Research Association, and the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities. Columbia University has a ranking of #22 in the QS World University Rankings 2023

Columbia University's New York City campus is well-equipped with the necessary infrastructure to assist students in studying and research. The campus is attractively designed, and it houses Columbia University's 20 schools, 25 libraries, and four affiliated institutions. There is plenty of accommodation on campus, as well as lots of space for leisure and entertainment, including cafeterias and a number of artworks. Columbia University has been at the forefront of research and innovation as a prominent higher education institution in the United States with a research budget of over $1 billion. It has produced some of the most well-known figures of their era. Columbia University is the alma mater of three US presidents, as well as the authors of the US constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Columbia University grads have created a name for themselves as Nobel laureates and Oscar winners. It is known for having a very long list of notable people that once studied here, including Franklin Delano Roosevelt (32nd President of the United States), Barack Obama (34th president of the United States) and Alexander Hamilton (Founding Father of the US).
