Study in USA: UW Seeks to Double Its International Student Population From 2024

The University of Wisconsin (UW) is looking forward to doubling its international student population. The university looks forward to implementing this change within the period of next 5 years. 

The university is still trying to return its overseas student population to pre-pandemic levels. Therefore, UW will be making efforts to attract more international students within the next 5 years. 

By increasing the number of international students on campus, the University of Wisconsin will ensure that it also maintains diversity on campus. By sharing ideas with students from around the globe both domestic and international students will gain global education exposure. 

University of Wisconsin International Student Outlook

At present international students comprise 4% of the undergraduate population at the University of Wisconsin. The Madison campus has the largest population of international students with 10% of undergraduates coming from foreign countries. 

On the other hand, UW-Superior under the regional schools scores the highest international students with 6.4% overseas undergraduate admissions as of now. But this still does not match the international student numbers at neighbouring public universities in US that are at least 10%. 

Therefore, the University of Wisconsin is making efforts to increase its international student enrollment to a reasonable level of 8% by 2028. The university is planning to do so by highlighting its strongest pursuits in education. 

According to the 2024 workforce development plan, the university will push courses that are high in demand in the US workforce. The workforce development plan is a $32 million plan for directing education towards areas that will face skill shortages soon. This includes the expansion of courses in artificial intelligence and nursing.

Indeed, the University of Wisconsin is among the top-ranked universities in the USA. It is in #35th position in the US News & World Report Rankings 2024 for national universities in the US. 

Moreover, it is also in the #102 position in the QS World University Rankings 2024 and in the #63 position in the THE World University Rankings 2024. It is a well-reputed public university in the States with many flagship programs. 

The Madison campus at the university is the most popular among all. It also has an acceptance rate of 60%. Currently, the university is planning to expand its international student population. For that it is going to take a lot more measures to ensure that the target enrollments are met.
