C. Location data (precise and background location)

Location data. When a user punches in for a work shift, the app collects precise device location (including in the background and when the app is closed) to record the route and distance travelled during the shift. This data is transmitted to our servers and associated with the user’s account for attendance and field-visit verification. Collection stops when the user punches out.

What we collect:

  1. A. Precise (fine, GPS-level) device location coordinates, along with timestamp, accuracy and, where available, speed and heading.
  2. B. Approximate (coarse, network-based) location, where precise location is unavailable or not granted.
  3. C. Background location, meaning location collected while the app is running in the background or is closed, for the duration of an active shift.

Why we collect it:

  1. A. To record attendance by verifying the place at which a user punches in and punches out of a work shift.
  2. B. To record the route travelled and calculate the distance covered during a shift, for travel reimbursement and reporting.
  3. C. To verify field visits to institutions, partners, students and customers assigned to the user.
  4. D. To resolve disputes relating to attendance, travel claims or visit records.

When collection starts and stops:

Location collection begins only when the user punches in for a work shift and stops when the user punches out. The app does not collect location outside an active shift. While a shift is active, the app displays a persistent notification indicating that location is being collected.

How it is stored and shared:

Location data is transmitted to our servers over an encrypted connection and is stored against the user’s account. It is accessible to the user’s reporting manager and to authorised members of our human resources, operations and administration teams for attendance, payroll and field-visit verification purposes. We do not sell location data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. It may be processed by our hosting and analytics service providers strictly on our behalf, under contractual restrictions limiting use to these purposes, and may be disclosed where required by applicable law as described in Section D.

Your control and choices:

Location permissions are requested at the time of use, and background location permission is requested separately with an explanation of why it is needed. You may deny or revoke location permission at any time from your device settings (Settings > Apps > Leverage Launchpad > Permissions > Location on Android). If location permission is denied or revoked, shift punch-in, route tracking and field-visit verification features will not function, though the rest of the app remains usable. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your location records as described in Section H.

Retention:

Location and route records are retained for as long as required for attendance, payroll, reimbursement and audit purposes, and thereafter for the period required under applicable law, after which they are deleted or anonymised.
