  • Its first daily broadcast took place on November 14, 1922, at Marconi’s London facility.

  • The BBC debuted its television service at Alexandra Palace in London in November 1936.
  • During World War II, the BBC was forced to close its television networks, but it continued to inform, educate, and entertain the TV audience and admirers on the radio.
  • After that, in 1953, it aired the Queen’s coronation ceremonies. This ceremonial occasion was watched by around 22 million people. It fostered a sense of desire in citizens to acquire TV sets at home as a result of such a broadcast, which aided in expanding TV sales.
  • Later, in June 1960, the BBC opened its first television centre in West London, which ultimately became its headquarters.
  • Then, in 1997, the BBC launched the BBC online (bbc.co.uk), which quickly established itself as one of the world’s most reliable sources.
  • Following the signing of a ten-year charter with the government in 2007, the BBC trust became its principal controlling body, and it began to expand its online services globally.
