CSIR NET Eligibility Criteria 2024
Every year the NTA releases CSIR NET Exam dates twice in June and December. The mode of the exam is a Computer Based Test. It is important to keep in mind the eligibility criteria before appearing for any examination. Failing to meet any requirements may result in the rejection of the application. So, to know who can apply for the CSIR NET exam, go through the following points.

Educational Qualification for CSIR NET
To apply for the CSIR NET examination, candidates must have one of the following degrees under their belt:
- MSc, Integrated BS-MS, BS-4 Years, BE/BTech, BPharma, MBBS Or an Equivalent Degree.
- 55% or above marks are required for General and OBC candidates.
- A minimum of 50% or above marks are required, for ST/SC/PWD candidates.
- Candidates who are still pursuing Masters’s Degree can apply for the CSIR NET 2023 Exam on the condition that they have educational certificates for (10+2+3) and the Duration of a Master’s Degree must not be longer than 2 years.
- Keep in mind that candidates having a UG degree are not eligible.
CSIR NET Age Limit
For JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) candidates, the upper age limit should be 28 years as of 1st January 2024. SC/ST/OBC/ PwD/Female Applicants will get 5 years of age relaxation. 3 years in case of OBC (non-creamy layer). For lectureship posts through the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research National Eligibility Test, there is no bar in terms of the age limit.

Nationality
The nationality of candidates is an important part of the CSIR NET Eligibility Criteria. They need to submit the proof of their nationality during their document verification. If candidates do not meet the eligibility requirements at any stage of the exam, they have to face rejection of their application.
- Candidates must have citizenship in India.
- Candidates who are immigrants of Tier-2 countries are not allowed to apply for CSIR NET 2024.
CSIR NET Eligibility Criteria for Reservation
Candidates who belong to the reservation category will get some relation in the cut-off marks. Below, we have mentioned category-wise relaxation.

FAQs
For Junior Research Fellowship, the upper age limit is 28 years. Reserve category students will get relaxation in the upper age limit. For the Assistant Professor role, there is no age limit.
Only Indian students are eligible to apply for the CSIR NET exam. Any immigrant from TIER-2 countries, including Pakistan isn’t eligible.
Students can appear in the exam for unlimited time. There is no limit on the maximum number of attempts.
