Eligibility for Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Minorities
The pre-matric Scholarship scheme for minorities is now only for students in the 9th and 10th classes. These are the eligibility criteria for acquiring the scholarship:
- Students must belong to a minority community{Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Jains, Buddhists, Zoroastrians(Parsis)}.
- Applicant must be studying in classes 9 to 10 only, in a government or private school.
- Applicant should have scored a minimum of 50% marks in the previous academic year.
- The applicant’s annual family income should not be more than INR 1 lakh. This income includes the total income of the family from all the sources.
Application Procedure for Pre-Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities
Students who want to apply for the scholarship can visit the National Scholarship Portal or NSP. The NSP has all the information about the scholarships provided by the central government. Students can follow the below-mentioned steps to apply for the scholarship:
- Applicant needs to visit the National Scholarship Portal.
- Register as a new user by providing your details.
- Provide the name, date of birth, domicile, mobile number, gender, and email ID, now select the scholarship.
- After completing the above step an OTP will be generated that’ll be used to verify the student’s mobile number.
- Verify the mobile number and log in to NSP and fill out the form.
- Application ID and password can be used for future reference.

Documents Required for the Scholarship
Candidates have to submit documents while applying for the pre-matric scholarship for minorities. The list of documents required for the application is mentioned below:
- Domicile certificate of the state.
- Minority community declaration certificate.
- Income certificate issued by tahsildar/employer.
- Photocopy of Bank passbook in the name of the student or joint account of parents.
- Photocopy of previous academic year mark sheets.
- Copy of Aadhar enrolment certificate/ Aadhar card.
- Students photograph.

Students applying for the MOMA scholarship will get financial aid for admission or tuition fee and also a maintenance allowance.

Terms and Conditions for Scholarship
The Pre-matric scholarship for minorities has various terms and conditions. The most prominent ones to keep in mind are listed below:
- 30% of the MOMA scholarship is reserved for girl students of each minority community in a State or Union Territory. The scholarship will be transferred to a male student only when no eligible female student is available.
- The benefits of the scholarship will not be given to more than two students from the same family.
- The scholarship is for the entire duration of the course. However, the maintenance allowance is given only for 10 months in an academic year.
- The responsibility for the implementation of the scholarship is in the hands of the State government/UT administration.
- The scholarship can be suspended or cancelled if the student is found violating the discipline of the school.
- Students should maintain regular attendance in order to avail uninterrupted benefits of the scholarship.
- The course fee/tuition fee will be credited to the school’s bank account. The maintenance allowance will be credited to the student’s bank account.
- The selected student is not allowed to avail of the benefits of any other scholarship scheme simultaneously.
- The scholarship scheme can be renewed for the next academic year only after giving proof that the student has scored 50% marks.
