Located in the famous state of Pennsylvania, Ursinus College is situated in a rather different city called Collegeville. It is mainly known as a Liberal arts college, with a campus spawning about 170 acres. It was founded in 1869, making it one of the oldest institutions in Pennsylvania. With about 60 areas of study, the famous majors are Biology, Economics, Business, and English. These four majors have the highest number of students in strength. A unique thing about Ursinus College is the Common Intellectual Experience (CIE). It’s a one-of-a-kind seminar course which primarily focusses on the four of the fundamental questions a liberal arts students have to face which are: What should matter to me? How should we live together? How can we understand the world? What will I do? A joint grant of $300,000 was awarded by the Mellon Foundation to Ursinus College and the world-famous, Columbia University to concentrate more on the CIE at Ursinus College and Columbia University’s Core Curriculum and also includes cross-campus visits and guest lecturers from Columbia University come over to Ursinus College. The college has ample residential and dining services on campus which includes 32 campus homes, 6 Coed residences, and 5 special-interest houses.
