History, Affiliations and Rankings
The University of Wollongong dates back to 1951 when it was founded as a division of the then New South Wales University of Technology in Wollongong. The University, which was founded to provide technical education for Engineers and Metallurgists needed in the region's steel industry, now offers a diverse range of courses across four faculties. It has been accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International, a globally recognised accreditation given to only the top 5% of business schools around the world. The university is ranked 185th in the world by the QS World University Rankings 2023. It is ranked 190th in the world by the Aggregate Ranking of Top Universities (ARTU) 2021. According to US News and World Reports, they're among the world's top 250 universities.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
UOW is a global network of campuses that provides students in Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore with world-class research and teaching. The main Wollongong campus of the University of Wollongong is one of Australia's most beautiful university campuses, set in the native Australian bush. UOW's Innovation Campus, located less than two kilometres east, is a research and technology precinct that houses innovative organizations as well as some of the university's leading research institutes. The university offers 243 undergraduate courses and many graduate courses across 4 specialized faculties, which are - Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, Business and Law, Engineering and Information Sciences, Science, Medicine and Health. The University also offers comprehensive programs at the Bachelor's level, in Sports, Exercise Science, Rehabilitation, Sports Management and Marketing that offer world-class professional coaching to Wollongong players.

The university worked hard to establish itself as one of the most prestigious modern universities in the world. Their achievements have been recognized in international awards and rankings, with UOW graduates and teachers being recognized as among the best in the world, and the University as a whole is ranked among the top 1% in the world. The University of Wollongong has been named a Spotlight Award winner in the 2018 Global Teaching Excellence Award, which recognizes the best institutions in the world for teaching excellence. For two years in a row, UOW was the only Australian university to be named a finalist for the prestigious Global Teaching Excellence Award (GTEA). The university has a prestigious network of 163,000 graduates from 179 countries. Alex Zelinsky (Australian Computer Scientist), Victoria Thaine (Australian Television Actress), Estelle Asmodelle (Australian Model), Van Badham (Australian Writer), Tim Robards (Australian Actor) and several other notable personalities have graduated from the University of Wollongong.
Student Diversity and Visiting Companies
With over 120 student-run clubs and societies at the University of Wollongong. International Student Programs (ISP) links students from all over the world, offering opportunities to make new friends, develop skills and connect with the local community. There are a total of 34,554 students enrolled in the university, out of which 7,414 are international students. As part of the USEP project, UOW Careers Central provides a specialized employment service with the goal of meeting the specific needs of graduating, graduated, or part-time students with disabilities seeking employment.
