History, Affiliations, and Rankings

In 1938, the University of Winnipeg, a public research university, was founded. Manitoba College and Wesley College merged to become the university. United College was the name provided following the merger, and it was eventually changed to 'University of Winnipeg.’ The Manitoba Department of Education and Training has granted the University of Winnipeg accreditation. It is a member of the International Association of Universities, Engineers Canada's Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board, and Canada's Association of Information Technology Professionals, among others. For undergraduate studies, the University of Winnipeg is ranked 13th in Canada. It was ranked in the top 15 for student satisfaction by Maclean's magazine. According to THE Rankings, it is one of the top 500 universities in the world.

Infrastructure, Campuses, and Courses

Buhler Centre and Ellice Avenue are two of the University of Winnipeg's campuses. Menno Simons Centre for Academic Writing, Institute for Women's and Gender Studies, Centre for Rupert's Land Studies, Global College, College, and Richardson College for Environment are among the university's colleges. Winnipeg provides a one-of-a-kind experience, with winter temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius, scorching summers, and a diverse selection of activities such as snowshoeing, hockey, canoeing, hockey tournaments, and a thriving arts and culture scene. The University of Winnipeg provides more than 50 undergraduate and graduate degrees in a variety of subjects. It comprises five faculties that provide 3 and 4-year undergraduate degrees, as well as 12 Master's degree programs. BBA, Computer Science, Economics, Physics, and many other programs are among the most popular.

Accomplishments and Alumni

The Co-operative Education Program at the University of Winnipeg collaborates with local, national, and international organizations to provide students with a diverse range of career opportunities. On the University of Winnipeg campus, the Co-op Program also offers a variety of networking events. Ubisoft, Royal Bank of Scotland, Scotiabank, City of Winnipeg, Great-West Life, and Cambrian Credit Union are just a few of the institutions with which the university collaborates. The University of Winnipeg has a global alumni network of 100,000 alumni from more than 90 countries. Danishka Esterhazy (filmmaker), Ash Koley (pop singer), Devi Sharma (Winnipeg City Councillor), Omar Zakhilwal (Afghan Finance Minister), and many others are among the well-known graduates.

Student Diversity and Visiting Companies

It has around 9,684 students enrolled as of 2019, with approximately 12% of them being overseas students. International students from more than 80 countries are welcome at the university. The University of Winnipeg has a strong employer network and a positive reputation among students for its placements. Some of the well-known companies on the list of recruiters are Bellstar Hotels & Resorts, Loyola University Medical Center, Microsoft, BMW, and others.
