The University of Sassari is a public-funded university located in Italy. Established by Antonio Fontana in the year 1562. It is one of the oldest universities in Italy. It is best known for conducting exhaustive research in the fields of Agriculture, Liberal Arts, Foreign Languages, Business Studies, and Medicine. The University has four campuses, each located at Olbia, Nuoro, Oristano and Sassari. It is best known for its Veterinary Science, History and Theology, Agriculture and Business and Management programs. The quality of Education rendered by the world class faculty members of the 13 university departments has been high ever since the inception of the university. Due to this, it was able to retain its position in the top five educational institutions in Italy. The city of Sassari is famous for its neo-gothic architecture on which most of the buildings and monuments are designed. A relatively young city, Sassari houses the world famous Fountain of Rosello and the National Museum of Sanna. Francesco Cossiga (President and 42nd Prime Minister of Italy) and Sebastiano Satta(poet) are some of the notable alumni of this university.
