History, Affiliations and Rankings 

The University of Salford was founded in 1967 and is a premier public higher education and research institution in Salford, Greater Manchester, New England. It began as the Royal Technical Institute in 1896 and changed its name to the College of Advanced Technology in 1956. The Royal Charter of 1967 granted the institution university status. It is a member of the University Alliance, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, and the North West Universities Association, among others. The university is ranked #801 - 100 as per QS World University Rankings and THE World University Rankings 2022. 

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

The University of Salford is located across three campuses, Peel Park, Frederick Road and MediaCityUK. The main campus is spread across 160 acres. Pathways, parking lots, green spaces, and buildings with high-end academic, administrative, and support facilities and services constitute the campus. The Clifford Whitworth Library on campus has a large collection of printed and digital materials that students and staff can use for studying, teaching, and research. There are seven academic schools within the university, as well as language centers. Students can study law, health, zoology, management, business, economics, engineering, psychology, and accounting in undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, distance-learning, and diploma programs at the university.

Accomplishments and Alumni 

In 2019, the university was awarded for excellence in sustainability. Its Energy House has been involved in smart energy GB and energy-saving efficiency initiatives. University has its inclusion in the first 200 international universities. The University of Salford boasts a long list of alumni who have gone on to achieve great success in various professions. Some notable people include Ben Kingsley (Actor), L.S Lowry (Artist), Michael Atchia (Former Programme Director of the United Nations Environment Programme), Mohammed Rahif Hakmi (Chairman of Armada Group), Richard James Tice (Businessman and Politician) and more.
