University of Maribor is the second-largest and also the second oldest university in Slovenia, established in 1975. The university offers 28 professional and 49 academic programs, 2 uniform master study programs and other 70 second-cycle (master's) programs and 36 doctoral degree programmes. It is known to provide an excellent learning experience and produce top graduates. Major faculties are Economics and Business; Energy Technology, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science;Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering and Architecture; Chemistry and Chemical TechnologyLogistics; Natural Sciences and Mathematics; ; Agriculture and Life Sciences; Organizational Sciences; Mechanical Engineering; Tourism; Criminal Justice and Security; Health Sciences; Education and Law; Arts; Medicine. The university is actively involved with international associations, networks and projects while promoting and protecting Slovenian national identity, its language, heritage and cultural values. Some of the major infrastructure in the university are conference facilities and lecture rooms, the Computer Centre, the University Library Maribor and the University Sports Centre. The sports centre has several sports halls for indoor activities involved in mandatory physical education classes and other organised by the student union of the university like basketball, handball, volleyball, squash, table tennis, indoor soccer, badminton, dancing, aerobics, martial arts, fitness and climbing.
