History, Affiliations and Ranking

Founded in 1963, The University of East Anglia (UEA) is a publicly funded research university located in Norwich, United Kingdom and extends over a 320-acre campus west of downtown. In 1968, the university saw two royal visits from Princess Margaret and Queen Elizabeth II and in 1994, the Queen returned to the campus to open the Queen’s building which hosts classes within the School of Health Sciences. The university is affiliated with ACU (Association of Commonwealth Universities), AMBA (Association of MBAs), EUA (European Union Association) and Aurora. The QS World University Ranking 2022 and THE World University Rankings 2022 place UEA at #269 and #182, respectively. Furthermore, the Complete University Guide and the Guardian University League Table rank the university at #22 and #41 for 2022, respectively.

Infrastructure, Campus and Courses 

The University of East Anglia has a world-famous and award-winning campus, which spans 320 acres and includes several architectural marvels as well as great amenities. The spectacular Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, which made its silver screen debut as the site of the Avengers: Age of Ultron in the Marvel blockbusters franchise, is part of UEA's vibrant campus. The £30 million Sportspark, one of the country's largest indoor sports centres; the John Innes Centre, a hub of groundbreaking research in Plant Science, Genetics, and Microbiology; and the Thomas Paine Study Centre, which includes a dazzling 360-seat-tiered lecture theatre and a formidable 50-seat seminar room. Furthermore, the university is home to the amazing Ziggurats for student accommodation, the fascinating Earlham Hall, which is a vibrant mix of historic and contemporary architecture and is now the UEA School of Law, which was also a 17th-century structure and is now the country's greenest building, and the well-known Enterprise Centre, all of which are all close by. The campus also houses the Union Pub and Bar, 24-hour Library, a concert and gig venue called the Lower Common Room (LCR). The campus is linked to the city centre and railway station by frequent buses. 

The university offers over 300 courses in its four faculties which contain around 26 schools of study. Some of them include Norwich Medical School, Norwich Business School, UEA Law School, Engineering, Computer Science, etc. The University of East Anglia has established a plethora of unique and trendy undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to appeal to a wide range of subjects and specialities. Furthermore, UEA offers a wide range of research-oriented and PhD programmes from which to select. Also, UEA offers uniquely designed INTO courses which are specialised degree and pathway programs specifically curated for international students. 

Accomplishments and Alumni

The university has continuously been recognised for providing great learning experiences, attaining Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework ranking. UEA has added another feather to its hat by being recognised by the government through this award. Their groundbreaking research supports the global carbon budget and they have developed smart agro-technical food varieties to feed the world. In 2014, UEA opened its most environmentally friendly building yet, Crome Court, which has won a number of awards for sustainability. In 2015, ‘Britain’s Greenest Building’ The Enterprise Centre, opened on the centre. UEA was also ranked 1st in the UK for research impact in Earth Systems and Environmental Sciences 2014. UEA has also given the world some of the most famous scientists, writers, politicians and entrepreneurs. Some of them include Sir Paul Nurse (Nobel Prize Winner 2001 in Physiology or Medicine), Dame Sarah Gilbert (Vaccinologist who designed the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine), and Anne Enright (Booker Prize 2007 winner).
