The University of Almería was created by the Parliament of Andalucía in July 1993. It is a public university in the city of Almería, Spain, on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. The public University strives to introduce social change through development in the economic, cultural and social spheres of the Almerían society. They deliver the teaching staff and methods that are a perfect fit for the cities historical, economical, and cultural profile. UAL comprises of eight teaching colleges which include health sciences, economics and business studies, natural sciences, education, law, experimental science, humanities and psychology departments. The University’s research work is mainly connected to its financial milieu, with a specific focus on solar energy, agriculture and water management. Approximately 12% of the total student body is made up of students from overseas. To help them integrate into society and with their fellow peers, all of them have an option to attend a 60-hour Spanish language course before the beginning of their studies. One of the best activities in the university is the Polyphonic Choir. It’s a mixed polyphonic chamber choir, which mainly has university students. It performs at all official functions of the university, several choral meetings, and in music outreach programmes.
