The University of Catholique De Louvain, also known as the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium's most prominent French-speaking university. Pope Martin V established the university in 1415, and it was separated into two institutions in the year 1968. The university was merged into two other Catholic Universities called the University of Namur and Saint-Louis University Brussels known as UCL. The university is affiliated with the Coimbra Group, CLUSTER, and Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities. According to the QS World University Rankings 2021, the university is ranked #189 and #164 as per THE Rankings 2021

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

The university has its main campus at Louvain-La- Neuve, which is called New University town in the region of Walloon. The university, which includes three more campuses in Brussels, Mons, and Charleroi, is Belgium's largest French-speaking university. The university's campus is spread across 6 locations in Belgium, the university offers students several UG and PG courses in a wide range of sectors. The best part is that students can take direct entry to any of the programmes as there is a proper entrance test for the students. Almost every programme is taught in French, but slowly, it is taking itself forward to impart its courses in English also. The university offers a myriad of programs in almost every field so that more and more students can take world-class education. Faculty of Theology, Faculty of Law and Criminology, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Philosophy, Arts and Literature, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Public Health, Faculty of Motor Sciences, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Architecture, and Faculty of Biological, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences make up the 12 faculties of the Catholic University of Louvain. The Louvain School of Economics, Louvain School of Management, and Louvain School of Engineering are the three schools that make up the university. 

Accomplishments and Alumni

Based on academic excellence, the Catholic University of Louvain offers scholarships to students. The university also has Student Societies centred on each faculty, which are referred to as Cercles. The majority of the students' entertainment and nightlife is coordinated and managed by these Cercles. To fund their operations, most Cercles operate tiny bars and a larger nightclub called "La Casa." The university contains over ten libraries that are open to the public. Print and digital holdings, databases, and a variety of research tools are all available at the libraries. The university is home to notable alumni including, Vincent Blondel (Belgian Professor of Mathematics), Albert Claude (Belgian Biologist), Rafael Correa (Former President of Ecuador), Joelle Mlquet (Belgian Politician), Vera Songwe (Economist), and Carlos Larrain (President of National Renewal)

Student Diversity and Visiting Companies

The university hosts approximately 20% of international students from all over the globe. Overall, the university follows an interdisciplinary approach with the help of several joint activities that offer vast experiences to the students. More than 31,611 students attend the Catholic University of Louvain, including undergraduate and graduate students of various countries. There are more than 5,815 faculty members at the university.
