Founded in 1985, Universiti Brunei Darussalam is amongst the leading academic institutions in the small country of Brunei. The university aims at the development of every individual as well as of the society as a whole. Since its inception, it has produced influential leaders, professionals and entrepreneurs. Universiti Brunei Darussalam comprises of eight academic faculties, 8 research institutes and two support centres for Business, Arts, Asian Studies, Science, Education Biodiversity, Integrated Technologies, Policy Studies, Health Sciences, and Islamic Studies. At UBD, research is conducted for the primary purpose of national relevance and to spring innovative and entrepreneurial initiatives and frameworks. The university had introduced the GenNEXT program in 2009 which allows students to tailor their studies to meet their individual requirements. The GenNEXT program also includes a Discovery Year programme which offers a global platform to the students for learning. These programs ensure a high-quality education which caters both individual needs as well as the needs of the changing world. UBD has partnered with universities across six continents which offers international experience to the students outside the UBD campus.
