Union Graduate College (UGC) was established in the early 20th century and initially offered master’s degrees in varied disciplines. It was actually the first colleges to award a graduate degree to the first lady, Florence Buckland in 1925. Following the last decades of the century, the college established several departments of Economics, Industrial Administration, Education, Healthcare Management, Engineering, amongst others. In 1986, the college started offering a Master of Art program in Teaching (MAT) which comprises of a plethora of subjects such as Biology, Mathematics, Social Studies, Geology, Chemistry as well as Foreign Languages including, French, German, Latin, Spanish, etc. In 2016, the college changed its name to the Clarkson University. Clarkson’s Graduate Student Recruitment and Admission Center for master’s programs are organized at the Capital Region Campus. The university provides a great support to the rapidly growing number of graduate education opportunities in the State. The headquarters of the university is based in Schenectady, New York, United States and the campus is spread across 640 acres and equipped with hi-tech computer labs, libraries and student hostels.
