Nestled in the city that never sleeps, is Union College. It is a liberal arts college founded in 1795, making it one of the oldest colleges in the world. Since its inception, Union college was considered an all-male institution and from 1970, the college opened its doors to enroll women in the college. UC has an extensive number of major and minors to choose from over 21 academic departments to choose from. The engineering programs offered by UC are ABET-accredited which raises the quality of education. Every student at Union College will be exposed to some form of study abroad program or international exchange program. UC has sent its students to more than 22 countries and regions. The Engineering disciplines offer exchange programs to France, Germany, Mexico, and Czech Republic. UC offers residential services on campus. Union College has 6 residential halls. They also have themed houses based on art or music etc. There are currently 13 theme houses. In addition to these, there 4 apartment buildings and 7 houses which are divided based on their Minerva house (refer website.) and also 11 fraternities and sororities. The dining options for the students are much diverse with over 18 halls to choose from with specific meal plans and also mainstream fast food outlets. Union College has approximately 2,150 full-time students enrolled in the undergraduate programs, out of these students around 80% complete some sort of internship during the duration of their program. The College offers majors and minor in American Studies, Computer Engineering, Data Analytics, Film Studies, Geology, History, Nanotechnology, Statistics, Theatre, and Gender, Sexuality and Woman's Studies among others.
