Teesside University has a long and illustrious history that has influenced its evolution into the dynamic, energetic, and forward-thinking institution it is today. Teesside Polytechnic became the University of Teesside on June 16, 1992, one of the UK's first new universities after the Further and Higher Education Act of that year. It is affiliated with University Alliance Universities UK. Teesside has achieved bronze award status as a member of the Athena SWAN Charter. It is one of only a handful of universities in the UK to receive the nationally recognised Customer First accreditation for its business services. The university ranks #1001-1200 in THE World University Rankings 2022. 

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

The campus is in the heart of Middlesbrough, in England's North East. The campus is within walking distance of all facilities and accommodations. The campus is well connected to the rest of the UK by public transportation, making it simple to visit other towns and cities. By public transportation, the beautiful coast and countryside, as well as historic cities, are only minutes away. By train, London and Edinburgh are only 2.5 hours apart. The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various disciplines.

Accomplishments and Alumni 

The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022 named Teesside University as the University of the Year for Social Inclusion. The average level of satisfaction with support was 95.8% in the International Student Barometer 2020*. Teesside University is one of only a few universities in the United Kingdom to receive the nationally recognised Customer First accreditation for its business services. Teesside has been awarded the Customer First standard for the 6th time. The North East Better Health at Work Award recognises the University's achievements in promoting healthy lifestyles and considering the health of the employees, as well as the efforts of local employers in addressing health issues in the workplace. The University has retained the European Commission’s HR in Excellence in Research Award following a two-year self-assessment. The university has a prestigious network of more than 100,000 alumni all over the globe.

Teesside University offers a wide range of students the opportunity to develop, learn, and get more out of student life through sports clubs, societies, and other activities. The Students' Union at Teesside University has over 100 active sports clubs and societies. Teesside University has a diverse student population as the only university in the Tees Valley region, with 30.6% of students belonging to the POLAR Q1 grouping, which is significantly higher than the national average of 12%. Over 40% of Teesside University students are home-grown talent who stay in the region after graduation, providing the skills needed for future workforces.
