History, Affiliations and Rankings

Golden Gate University, formerly known as GGU School of Law, was established in the fall of 1901 as the YMCA Evening Law School, launching California's first evening law programme. It was started so that full-time workers would have access to evening classes at YMCA Law Schools across the country. Four men made up the first graduating class in June 1905. Today, the University is a leading provider of professional education in Business and Management, Accounting, Taxation and Law. GGU is accredited by WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), the organization that accredits universities in California and Hawaii, including Stanford, University of San Francisco, UC Berkeley, and San Jose State University. The San Francisco campus is conveniently situated in the city's financial district. There include libraries, computer labs, service offices, student and alumni lounges, legal clinics, and centres.
