Chatham University is a private American coeducational university with its main campus located in the Shadyside area in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. The university was founded in 1869 by Reverend William Trimble Beatty as Pennsylvania Female College which was later renamed as Pennsylvania College for Women in 1890 before it came to be recognised as a university in 1955. Chatham University structure includes 3 colleges: Chatham College with academic and co-curricular programs and liberal arts college for undergraduates; the College of Graduate Studies for both master’s and doctoral level programs in the field of Arts and Architecture, Business, Health Science, Creative Writing and Teaching and finally the College for Continuing and Professional Studies providing online and hybrid undergraduate and graduate degree programs, certificate programs and community programs like Summer Music and Arts Day Camp. Other university campuses are Chatham Eastside Campus spread on a 427-acre land in the fast-growing East End and Eden Hall Campus outside of Richland Pittsburgh, one of the world’s most sustainable campus. There are a range of athletic and sports facilities like Pittsburgh Ice Arena, Athletic and Fitness Centre, Sigo Falk Natatorium, Weight Room, Frozen Pond Arena and UPMC Graham-Field within the campus. Various sports activities at Chatham University include basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, lacrosse, hockey, volleyball, indoor and outdoor track & field.
