Started in 1968, Cañada College is a community college spread over 131 acres of land in the city of Redwood, San Francisco. The college is regarded as one of the leading institutes of learning and excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education. Emphasizing on STEM education, the college has partnered with NASA and San Francisco State University. More than 6,000 students are currently pursuing 51 UG and PG, and 42 certificate programs across various disciplines in its 3 departments which include Science and Technology, Business Design and Workforce, and Humanities and Social Sciences. Cañada College is best known for its degree and certificate programs in Sociology, Psychology, Economics, Business Administration, Interior Design, and Child Development. M-SETS, SOLES, and MESA are some of the scholarships offered by the Cañada College to local and international students. Apart from a library which is a constituent of the Peninsula Library System, it also houses a sports centre equipped with world-class recreation facilities. Cara Black (author), Bob Melvin (Baseball player), and Stevie Nicks (Singer-Songwriter) are some of the renowned alumni.
