Bowling Green was founded in 1910 as a school for teacher preparation, but it wasn't until the following year that the first two structures, which are now University Hall and Williams Hall, were ready for use. In the first year, there were 304 students enrolled, and there were 21 faculty members. Bowling Green State University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, a regional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. It ranked #258 by US News in National Universities. This high-earning institution in northwestern Ohio actually began in the late 1800s. The growth in public institutions began with the Progressive Era in order to meet demands for training. This helps in the professional development of teachers. The university supports a student life program. There are athletic teams in the university and the popular one is known as Bowling Green Falcons. The university competes at the NCAA Division I level in all sports except ice hockey. The campus is also home to an annual event the Dance Marathon and State Fire School.

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

119 buildings and a park-like environment make up the campus of Bowling Green State University. Some of these structures include the brand-new Stroh Center, the Wolfe Center for the Arts, Centennial Residence Hall, Falcon Heights Residence Hall, The Oaks Dining Center, and Carillon Place Dining Center. More than 308 student clubs and 40 social fraternities and sororities gather for drop-in and organized fitness activities at the Student Recreation Center and Perry Field House. On-campus, there are 25 sports groups and 25 intramural sports. On-campus resources including the Wellness Connection, Falcon Health Center, and Counseling Center help students keep their physical and mental health in check. The library system is one of the biggest in the world, with 6 million items and electronic access to study materials from all around the world. The university's offerings include more than 200 undergraduate programmes, 54 master's degree programmes, 23 certificate programmes, 1 online associate's programme, and 17 doctoral degree programmes.

Accomplishments and Alumni 

U.S. News & World Report's 2021 Best Graduate School Rankings included three programs associated with Arts and Sciences: the graduate program in fine arts was ranked No. 73, up from its previous 114th ranking; clinical psychology moved up to No. 88 from 135, and the Master of Public Administration earned a spot at No. Some of the alumni of this university are Eva Marie Saint – American Actress, Tim Conway – an American actor, comedian, director, and writer, Shantanu Narayen – an American business executive, Nate Thurmond – an American former professional basketball player and David James Wottle – American retired middle-distance track athlete.
